About Mytel's VoIP Service
What type of service does Mytel offer?
Mytel offers a two way service, rather than an “outgoing only” or “on-network” service. This means that you are able to receive and make calls with a VoIP device or softphone configured to our network. It also means that you if you purchase an Traditional In-Dial Number your friends and business associates can call you using the traditional telephone network.
Where is Mytel's service based?
Our network is based locally in Australia, which means that your voice data packets don't need to traverse long distances to arrive at our servers and your call quality will be very high. If you're technically minded try a ping test against one of our servers (eg. sip03.mytel.net.au).
Private Interconnected Network
We use the services of a number of suppliers to bring you the highest possible quality calls. If you're a business located in an Australian capital city we are also able to offer you a direct connection to our servers via DSL leased line. This means that your voice data won't be affected if the public internet suffers from congestion.
Numbering of Phone services
Our phone numbering is managed by our own customer database management system. You cannot request a specific Mytel phone number or Traditional Indial number.
