How do I download and install Connect2?
Firstly, only Mytel Members who are logged in able to download Connect2. Once you are logged in, follow these instructions to get Connect2 on your computer.
- Visit the Connect2 page here,
- Click on Thunderbird in the Connect2 Download Center,
- Read and agree to the User License,
- Right-Click the 'Agree and Download' button and choose "Save Link As..." to Download and save the file to your hard disk,
- In Mozilla Thunderbird, open the extension manager (Tools Menu/Extensions), and
- Click the Install button, and locate/select the file you downloaded and click "OK"
Once Connect2 has been installed, you must restart Thunderbird before using Connect2.
How do I setup Connect2?
The first time you start Thunderbird after installing Connect2, the Options Window will open automatically.
To get to this window again, click on the 'Options' button on the Connect2 Toolbar. You can also get to it by selecting 'Extensions' from the 'Tools' menu, then highlighting 'Connect2' before clicking the 'Options' button at the bottom of this window.
What is the Web Login section for?
The Web Login section allows you to enter your username and password for accessing the Mytel Members Area on the Mytel website. This allows you to directly access your Online Call Records from the Connect2 Toolbar, by clicking on the 'View Call Records' button.
What is the Extension Details section for?

In this section, you can enable or disable Number Highlighting. When Number Highlighting is enabled, phone numbers within email bodies will be highlighted like a link to a webpage. If Number Highlighting is disabled, then you can still cut and paste links into the Connect2 Toolbar to dial numbers for you.
This section allows you to enter the details of up to two Mytel VoIP Extensions for use with Connect2.
For each Mytel VoIP Extension you enter you need to provide an Extension Name, the Mytel VoIP Extension (in the 'Mytel Phone Extension' field), and the associated Password for that Extension (in the 'Phone Password').
The Extension Name can be used to keep track of which Mytel VoIP Extension Connect2 is currently using.
What are the Advanced Options for?
The Advanced Options allow you to turn on and turn off Number Highlighting for certain phone number formats. If Connect2 highlights numbers that you know are not phone numbers on a website that you use often, you can disable highlighting for that type of phone number format.
Why don't my settings change?
In order for any changes to settings to take effect, you will need to restart Thunderbird.
I have two extensions setup in Connect2, how do I switch between them?
To change which Mytel VoIP Extension Connect2 uses, use the drop down box on the Connect2 Toolbar, just next to the Highlighting On/Off button.

What if Connect2 doesn't highlight a phone number I want to call?
You can use the Connect2 Toolbar to call phone numbers as well. Either type the number in manually or cut and paste the phone number you wish to be connected to in the box (as seen below) and click Call. Connect2 will remove any characters that are numbers, expect for + sign which will be replaced by 0011.
