How do I download and install Connect2?

Firstly, only Mytel Members who are logged in able to download Connect2. Once you are logged in, follow these instructions to get Connect2 on your computer.

  • Visit the Connect2 page here,
  • Click on Internet Explorer in the Connect2 Download Center,
  • Read and agree to the User License,
  • Click on the 'Agree and Download' button, and
  • Save the file to an appropriate place (either a temporary directory or your Desktop) and once the download has finished using Windows Explorer double-click on the file to begin the installer.

Once Connect2 has been installed, you must restart your browser before using Connect2.

Installing Connect2 for Internet Explorer.

When installing Connect2 for Internet Explorer you must have Administrator or Power User privileges. If this means you are installing Connect2 when logged in as a user you do not normally use, there is an option in the installation to allow either 'Just Me' or 'Everybody' to use Connect2. It is important you select 'Everybody' as otherwise when you log in as your normal user you will not be able to use Connect2.

What does the 'Security Warning' window mean?

Depending on your security settings you may see a 'Security Warning' dialog box when you try and install Connect2. It will say that the publisher could not be verified. If you have downloaded Connect2 directly from the Mytel website please click on the 'Run' button for the installation to proceed. If you downloaded Connect2 from a website other than Mytel, we strongly recommended you download Connect2 again from the Mytel website.

What is the .NET Framework and why do I need it?

The .NET Framework has been created by Microsoft and includes many new technologies that more and more applications are using. If you have not download the latest version of the .NET Framework and are installing Connect2 for Internet Explorer you will be asked to install this first and will be taken to the Microsoft download page to do this. On this page please download the '.NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package'.

Help! I can't find the Mytel Toolbar in Internet Explorer

Once you have installed Connect2 for Internet Explorer and have restarted your browser, Connect2 may not be visible to you. To make the Connect2 Toolbar visible, open the View menu, then from Toolbars click on Connect2 Bar.

How do I setup Connect2?

The first time you start your browser after installing Connect2, the Options Window will open automatically. To get to this window again, click on the 'Options' button on the Connect2 Toolbar.

What is the Web Login section for?

The Web Login section allows you to enter your username and password for accessing the Mytel Members Area on the Mytel website. This allows you to directly access your Online Call Records from the Connect2 Toolbar, by clicking on the 'View Call Records' button.

What is the Extension Details section for?

In this section, you can enable or disable Number Highlighting. When Number Highlighting is enabled, phone numbers within webpages will be highlighted like a link to another webpage. If Number Highlighting is disabled, then you can still cut and paste links into the Connect2 Toolbar to dial numbers for you.

This section allows you to enter the details of up to two Mytel VoIP Extensions for use with Connect2.

For each Mytel VoIP Extension you enter you need to provide an Extension Name, the Mytel VoIP Extension (in the 'Mytel Phone Extension' field), and the associated Password for that Extension (in the 'Phone Password').

The Extension Name can be used to keep track of which Mytel VoIP Extension Connect2 is currently using.

What are the Advanced Options for?

The Advanced Options allow you to turn on and turn off Number Highlighting for certain phone number formats. If Connect2 highlights numbers that you know are not phone numbers on a website that you use often, you can disable highlighting for that type of phone number format.

I have two extensions setup in Connect2, how do I switch between them?

To change which Mytel VoIP Extension Connect2 uses, use the drop down box on the Connect2 Toolbar, just next to the Highlighting On/Off button.


What if Connect2 doesn't highlight a phone number I want to call?

You can use the Connect2 Toolbar to call phone numbers as well. Either type the number in manually or cut and paste the phone number you wish to be connected to in the box (as seen below) and click Call. Connect2 will remove any characters that are numbers, expect for + sign which will be replaced by 0011.
